Review: Dayseeker – Origin.

Dayseeker release their LP, Origin next week, and much anticipated it is, with the band gaining attention for their sound recently, the Orange County band have announced the first single off the record, The Earth Will Turn, which you can listen to here. Origins is released through InVogue Records on the 21st.

The record has an atmospheric feel to it from the start, and as each of the songs works incredibly well together, it creates a great sound throughout, the guitars in particular are really sharp throughout the record making for some incredible riffs throughout, particularly on The Earth Will Turn and album opener The Nail In Our Coffin, and this continues with title track Origin, the album tying itself together brilliantly. The record was produced with Nick Ingram who has also worked with Hotel Books and City Lights and his expertise shows here.

The vocals are excellent as well, with a mixture of singing and screaming, here they have found a great balance of screaming and vocals, that make this album sound very well thought through. The band have done a good job of writing as well, songs like Spotless Mind which is followed by The World Is Quiet are both awesome examples of this on the record, however the writing is strong throughout and certainly something that is been honed well and it’s made clear on Origins.

This is an impressive record throughout, and though it seems it needs more pace, a change of it would ruin this record’s potential and the atmospheric sound that they have created on this album really makes it stand out, with a great mixture of vocals in the right places which makes the record work. The album is definitely worth a listen when it’s released next week, as it may be one of the best so far this year, Dayseeker are certainly worth waiting for.

9/10.
